The NMG Sessions

Since 2011, 105 Drive has been promoting and supporting local unsigned bands and artists in the Cambridge area through its ‘New Music Generator’ feature on a Monday afternoon. The station as a whole has supported local events such as Strawberry Fair, Cambridge Rock Festival, Wish You Were Here?, The Junction’s Fiver Nights and Oxjam and in April 2012, the Unsigned Chart was born – giving listeners and fans a chance to choose their favourite local artists and for the artists themselves to have regular guaranteed radio airplay of their material.

The natural progression to all of this is to give the artists an opportunity to perform live on a stage, in a popular Cambridge music venue – and this is how the NMG Sessions idea was born.

Each month we hope to showcase 3 local unsigned or independently signed musicians from the Cambridge area, give them a stage and an audience for them to show the rest of the city what they’re made of – and of course, we’ll be there broadcasting it all too.

The next NMG Sessions is on 25th July featuring B Sydes, Elliot Porter & The Missing Pieces and The Floe.
