How do I listen?
Simply tune your radio to 105 FM, to hear community radio from the heart of Cambridge’s community. You can also listen online via our online web-player at www.cambridge105.fm – just click “Listen Again”.
What is community radio?
Ofcom, the regulator for the UK communications industry defines community radio stations as ‘small-scale, not-for-profit radio stations operated for the good of members of the public, or of particular communities, and in order to deliver social gain.’
Is Cambridge 105 a registered charity?
Currently Cambridge 105 is a voluntary, not-for-profit organisation, registered as a “Limited by Guarantee” company.
Membership
How do I get involved/ how do I join/ how do I get my own show?
If you are interested in producing your own show, joining an existing show, or getting involved in any other area of the station from studio maintenance to marketing, please email us: volunteer@cambridge105.fm It is also worth coming along to talk to us at any of our open days, or broadcasting events within the community. You can find out more at www.cambridge105.fm/join-us
How much does it cost to join Cambridge 105?
£5 per month for waged volunteers, £3 per month for unwaged volunteers. Please set up a standing order from your bank- contact us for more details and to collect a standing order form: membership@cambridge105.fm
What does my membership cost go towards?
Running Cambridge 105 each month costs money (unfortunately!) – somewhere in the region of £800 per month in rent, utilities, licence fees and royalties. Your money helps make this amount achievable.
Do I need previous radio experience to get involved?
No previous radio experience is not necessary to get involved. Most volunteers can turn a hand to most tasks, but that’s not to say we’ll turn away exprienced broadcasters. We are hoping to get our training programme underway in the coming months following the completion of our second studio, which is being designed with training and work experience in mind.
How do I advertise with you?
We are currently looking for advertising from local businesses. For rate cards and more information about how Cambridge 105 can help you advertise your business effectively please get in touch: advertising@cambridge105.fm
Technical
Why can’t I listen online, or am experiencing radio silence?
We might be experiencing technical difficulties that a volunteer is currently unavailable to look into. However, we always try and repair any problems as fast as possible.
Why can’t I pick you up on my radio?
Cambridge 105′s license as granted by Ofcom covers the city of Cambridge. The map below shows a signal range estimate according to Ofcom, but given that radio waves aren’t limited by much apart from geography, our signal may reach further afield!
