General
How do I listen?
Simply tune your radio to 105 FM, to hear community radio from the heart of Cambridge’s community.
What is community radio?
Ofcom, the regulator for the UK communications industry defines community radio stations as ‘small-scale, not-for-profit radio stations operated for the good of members of the public, or of particular communities, and in order to deliver social gain.’
Is Cambridge 105 a registered charity?
Currently Cambridge 105 is a voluntary, not-for-profit organisation, registered as a “Limited by Guarantee” company.
Who do I contact if I want to produce my own show?
Please come along to one of our future open days and chat to us directly about what you want to do. Currently we are asking individual programme makers to commit a minimum of a fortnightly show. For further details please email us:programming@cambridge105.fm
I was a member of 209 radio, does this make me an automatic member of 105fm?
No. Although Cambridge 105 has worked closely with 209 over the past few months, Cambridge 105 is a separate company with a different board of directors and organisational structure. You will need to join Cambridge 105 if you wish to get involved in the station.
Membership
How do I get involved/ how do I join?
Come along to our next open weekend 15-16th of January at our new premises on Gwydir Street and meet like minded volunteers. We are currently building our studios so any DIY know-how welcomed! If you are interested in producing your own show or getting involved with an existing show, please email us: volunteer@cambridge105.fm
How much does it cost to join Cambridge 105?
£5 per month for waged volunteers, £3 per month for unwaged volunteers. Please set up a standing order from your bank- contact us for more details and to collect a standing order form: membership@cambridge105.fm
What does my membership cost go towards?
Running Cambridge 105 each month costs money (unfortunately!) – somewhere in the region of £800 per month in rent, utilities, licence fees and royalties. Your money helps make this amount achievable.
Do I need previous radio experience to get involved?
Whilst we are getting 105 off the ground we are giving priority to programme makers who have some prior production experience- this is simply because we do not currently have the resources to train new volunteers. However, stick with us- in the coming months we are hoping to get our training programme underway.
How do I advertise with you?
We are currently looking for advertising from local businesses. For rate cards and more information about how Cambridge 105 can help you advertise your business effectively please get in touch: advertising@cambridge105.fm
